ECOCERT COSMOS
What our certification <em>actually</em> means.
ECOCERT COSMOS is an independent European standard for natural and organic cosmetics. Not a marketing badge. Not a self-declaration. An annual external audit of our formulas, ingredients, and manufacturing processes.
The standard
Two tiers. <em>Both demanding.</em>
COSMOS Natural and COSMOS Organic are the two levels of certification we carry.
COSMOS Natural
The foundation level. Requires that the vast majority of ingredients are of natural origin, that production processes are environmentally responsible, and that specific categories of ingredients are strictly excluded.

COSMOS Organic
The highest tier. Includes all COSMOS Natural requirements plus a mandatory minimum percentage of certified organic farming ingredients, verified through the full supply chain.

Excluded by the standard
What is <em>not</em> in NUDA formulas.
These are not choices. Under COSMOS, these ingredients are prohibited.
Parabens
Synthetic preservatives linked to endocrine disruption. Prohibited under COSMOS regardless of concentration.
Silicones
Create a synthetic coating that mimics healthy hair without repairing it. Non-biodegradable. Excluded entirely.
Mineral Oils
Petroleum derivatives that block the scalp and provide no nutritive benefit. Excluded as a petrochemical derivative.
PEG compounds
Synthetic emulsifiers and thickeners derived from petroleum. Often contaminated with 1,4-dioxane. Not permitted.
Synthetic fragrances
COSMOS prohibits synthetic aromatic compounds. All fragrance in NUDA formulas is natural origin only.
Artificial colorants
Synthetic dyes and pigments used to make cosmetics look more appealing. Zero role in efficacy. Excluded.
Chemical UV filters
Synthetic compounds that absorb UV radiation. Many are hormone-disrupting. Not permitted under COSMOS.
Microplastics
Plastic particles used as exfoliants or stabilisers. Environmental contaminant. Prohibited at all concentrations.
Harsh sulphates (SLS/SLES)
Sodium Lauryl and Laureth Sulphate strip the scalp's natural barrier. We use only COSMOS-approved sodium coco sulfate (SCS) where needed.

GLOSS BATH and GLOSS BALM are produced in our ECOCERT COSMOS certified manufacturing facility and formulated without any COSMOS-prohibited ingredients. Individual product certification for these two formulas is pending.
